Expleo are currently supporting a client based in Turkey in the development of a new fixed wing aircraft, as part of this support we are looking for a number of Lead/Senior Structural Design Engineers. Candidates will have experience of metallic and composite structural analysis and of leading and guiding a team of engineers.
This will be an initial 12 month fixed term contract based at our client's facility just outside Ankara, Turkey. The rate/salary will be dependant on the individual's skills and experience. Due to Turkish employment regulations successful candidates will have to enter the Turkish tax system.
Ideally candidates will have experience of working on the development of fast jet aircraft but we will consider those from the wider aerospace industry
Due to the nature of the work, candidates must be nationals of NATO countries and must be eligible to obtain their national security clearance. We are unable to process applications from candidates outside of the NATO member states.
Drive design solutions and lead a structural design team to deliver a solution that meets requirements
Modify designs based on cost and manufacturing capabilities
Holds design reviews and presentations among peers to gain design feedback
Assures design and product quality by confirming fabrication, assembly and installation processes
Produce airframe structural configuration layouts and guide design team for detail designs including preliminary sizing/stress analysis, joint layouts, interface boundary definitions of parts and assemblies employing metallic and composite materials.
Manage design team to create and maintain CAD solid models and drawings of installations, assembly and detail components that meet all requirements such as structural integrity, interface boundaries, weight and cost targets as directed by the project engineer.
Mentoring design team with his/her experience and transferring know how / know why to design team.
Preparing design guidelines / design directives to be used for structural design
Conduct periodic design reviews as required to ensure designs meet the requirements
Interfaces with internal and external customers to present design development outputs
Interfaces with procurement and manufacturing to facilitate transition from design to production
Review customer requirements and support decomposition to lower level requirements
Candidates must have security clearance
BSc or higher degree in mechanical or aerospace engineering
Minimum 12 years’ experience in aerospace structures design
Strong technical background with aerospace industry standards
Experience with the metallic part design and its manufacturing processes, including extrusion, machining, sheet metal forming, forging, etc.
Experience with the composite part detail process, including composites stacking sequence, lamination theory, honeycomb core, bonded assemblies, manufacturing assembly and fabrication processes, post-cure machining operations desired.
Experience with assembly design, mechanical and bonded joints.
Solid knowledge of mechanical design principles including GD&T
Fluency in Microsoft Office tools
PREFERRED ADDITIONAL SKILLS
Experience with prototype and/or rate part production with exposure to tool design, manufacturing planning and hands on fabrication desired.
Stress analysis experience using FEM based tools such as MSc Patran / Nastran, Abaqus or relevant tools with both metal and composite parts.
